Summary
CAD Orphanage for boys located in Delmas 3, Port-au-Prince Haiti. The CAD orphanage currently house 145 boys (ages 5 to 18). Most of the children are the innocent victims of the 2010 earthquake and other deadly crisis due to the long history of strife within the country. Many children live on the streets of Haiti starving from lack of resources, opportunities and food. These kids stand in the relentless heat of the street with hands outstretched, begging every day just for their next meal. They are more vulnerable to disease, injury, abuse and exploitation.
Challenge
The children at CAD were left without families or homes after being separated from the chaos in Haiti. They were children living and begging on the street, extreme poverty and political instability are largely to blame. Almost all the children who came to the Center are traumatized by bad experiences. These children are deprived of affection, protection, poor sanitation, lack of trust, poor health and body scars. Without affection, attention, food and school, the boys are at risk of turning to street life and gang violence.
Solution
At Bright Lite Charity, we place special focus and are working compassionately on meeting the basic needs of vulnerable children with the physical, educational, and mental health care they need. We work with partners in Haiti to make sure the boys are getting the nutrition, health care, education and protection they need to survive and thrive. The center is a safe haven for many of the children. Within the CAD Centre, they are free to be children again, have peace of mind and a comfortable bed to sleep in. Future plans are chances to learn useful skills, like computers, mechanics, metal work, and more.
